When Mountains Tremble: The Qur’an as God’s Uncreated Word

The Burning Question: Created or Uncreated?

After the Prophet’s () era, scholars grappled with a cosmic dilemma:
Is the Qur’an—written on pages, recited by tongues—created by Allah or an eternal part of His Being?

This wasn’t semantics. If the Qur’an is created:

  • It becomes a product of Divine Will, separate from Allah’s Essence.
    If uncreated:
  • It shares Allah’s eternal nature—untouched by time or limitation.

The Consensus That Shaped Islam:

"The Qur’an is Allah’s uncreated Speech.
The ink, paper, and human recitation are
created.
Yet these vessels carry His Eternal Word."

— Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal

Allah’s Speech: Beyond Human Comprehension

1. The Infinite Ocean (Qur’an 31:27)

"If all trees on earth were pens, and the sea [were ink] replenished by seven seas, Allah’s Words would never exhaust..."

Key Insight: Creation is finite; Allah’s Speech is boundless. Your Mushaf is a single cup drawn from an infinite ocean.

2. Not a "Voice" But a Reality

When you recite:

  • Your voice is created (biological vibrations).
  • The meanings are uncreated (eternal Truths from Allah).

"Like reading a king’s letter: The paper is made. The ink is made. But the king’s command is his authority."

Even Bees Receive It:

وَأَوْحَىٰ رَبُّكَ إِلَى ٱلنَّحْلِ
"Your Lord inspired the bee: ‘Build hives in mountains and trees...’" (Q16:68)

How to "Hear" God’s Speech Today

Two portals unlock Divine communication:

1. Dhikr (Remembrance)

"Hearts tremble when Allah is mentioned" (Q8:2).
Reciting Qur’an isn’t reading text—it’s syncing your heartbeat with Divine rhythm.

2. Tafakkur (Contemplation)

كَذَٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمُ ٱلْـَٔايَٰتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَفَكَّرُونَ
"Thus Allah makes His signs clear—that you may reflect." (Q2:219)

Warning: Reflection without purification breeds ego. Satan whispers too (Q114:5).

Why This Theology Matters to YOU

  • When anxiety hits: Reciting Qur’an connects you to the Unchanging.
  • When lost: Contemplating verses invites Divine guidance.
  • When small: Holding a Mushaf means holding eternity.

"That ‘Uthmani script in your hands? It’s a love letter from Before Time."

The Islamic Principles of Justice and Fairness: An In-Depth Analysis of "عدل" and "انصاف"

1. The Foundational Principles of " عدل " and " انصاف " in Islam The concepts of " عدل " (Adl) and " انصاف " (Insaf) hold a paramount position in Islam. The Arabic term " عدل ," derived from the root 'a-d-l, carries a rich array of meanings that extend beyond a simple translation of justice. It signifies a state of equality, justness, straightness, and temperance, implying an inherent balance and equilibrium. This fundamental idea of balance permeates the Islamic understanding of justice, suggesting that any deviation from it constitutes a form of imbalance or transgression. Complementing " عدل " is the term " انصاف ," which embodies the notions of fairness, equity, and the act of giving to each individual what is rightfully theirs. While often used synonymously with " عدل " and another related term, " قسط " (Qist), " انصاف " often emphasizes the practical manifestation of justice in...
